Hackathon in Manawatū opens with IT experts checking out water quality issues

Shutting doors and giving IT experts lots of food and coffee will be put to the test when they have only three days to come up with ideas for water technology that could help farmers.

Technology and software experts will be invited to draw on their expertise to help farmers use water more efficiently over a longer period than las year's inaugural Hackathon.

Building Clever Companies (BCC) marketing manager Dave Craig said IT people received information on water issues they might choose at last week's Hackathon launch.

In early May, they will go into a hot house situation for a few days to come up with something that works.
